Leveraging Experience to Serve the Future

Civic leadership harnesses the power of diverse teams to serve social mandates and missions. When government leadership falters or faces inefficiencies it is often due to a misunderstanding of organizational potential and assumptions.  Touchstones helps to foster responsive leaders who can see past these barriers to build shared goals,  values, and an inspired workforce. We provide tools to ensure communication, collaboration, and shared leadership are possible within any organization at any level of government.

Using paired short texts by authors such as Plato and Nietzsche on Power, Aquinas and Martin Luther King Jr. on Law, Rousseau and Freud on Desire, and juxtaposed with their own perspectives, government leaders practice collaboration and make their assumptions explicit.

In a Touchstones course managers will learn how to:

  • Overcome individual and team barriers to communication
  • Learn how to foster creative solutions through teamwork
  • Foster collaborative discussions to multiply the group’s potential

Programs generally include instruction by a Touchstones’ trainer followed by up to 25 weeks of self-guided leadership development.
